Strolling my way to the end

The weather has been so beautiful lately in Kansas City!  It has been perfect weather for being outdoors.  Which makes me so excited to think that next fall I will have little Amelia to take on walks.  That is, if I ever make up my mind on the type of stroller I want.  After months of research, I have decided that I want a jogging stroller and an umbrella stroller that is suitable for a newborn.  But let me tell you, if I had my choice I think I would get about 4 different strollers.  There are so many great ones out there, how does anyone decide on only one?  I have come to the conclusion that one company needs to make a stroller that serves all of my purposes…jogger, lightweight and easy to travel with, carseat friendly or newborn friendly, with a lot of space under it to put bags, and the extra additions like a cup holder and snack tray.  I would pay $500.00 for the perfect stroller.  But it’s hard to want to fork out that much money when it doesn’t do everything I need, and this is what certain companies are asking for!  I had no idea before I became pregnant that a stroller could cost $500.00!!!  It seems outrageous to me, but as a mom to be I can totally see how you would pay that much for exactly what you want.  So there you have it, someone needs to invent the perfect stroller please!

In all fairness

This past weekend we visited Amelia Island, Florida.  Which, as you know is where we got married and how we named Amelia.  It was almost surreal to be back on the island, even though it was for a short period of time.  The name Amelia was everywhere!  This was exciting, but it also made me think…WOW our daughter is going to think she is very special when we bring her here.  And this is okay, to a certain extent.  But again, it made me think of my future second child, and how are we going to make him/her feel just as special as Amelia when we visit the Island?  It must be a little difficult to treat each child the same.  Which is funny that this came to mind last weekend, because this has been the topic of conversation between my Mom and I the past couple of weeks.  I am the 3rd daughter of their 4 daughters.  And even though we are all grown, it still comes up that our parents aren’t treating us each equally.  Whether it’s time spent with their grandchildren, helping with home projects or simple conversations.  My Mom says that they try their best, but she also says it is very difficult.  I can see where she is coming from, however there has to be an easy way to do it, right?  What is your advice on treating all of your children equally, as children and as they grow into adults? I can use all the parenting advice I can get!

Baby Shower

My oldest sister is planning my first baby shower!  I am so thankful that she has offered to do this for me.  It started out as a couple’s shower on a Saturday night, but has slowly evolved to a girl’s shower on a Sunday afternoon.  I mean after all, I am having a little girl and I decided that I really want all that pink, girly stuff to be a part of it!  So she began the planning with my other sister Sarah, my Mom and some good friends who are helping out too.  My sister Alicia, the host, has a great deck/patio with a huge yard so she’s planning on hosting it outside (weather permitting of course).  I wanted the theme of it to match my nursery, so the first step was of course….THE INVITES!  I continued my Love Bird Bedding/tree theme with the Two Little Birds Shower Invitation.  These invites are so cute and perfect for my theme (with a little tweaking of the text that is…NO twins for us this time!!)  PaperSnaps is great at letting the customer personalize its products to fit their needs.  If that means changing text around, fonts or colors…they will let you as long as it’s possible!  My sister already has my cake picked out too.  It’s being made by a baker up in Leavenworth, Kansas called Eatin’ Sweet Cakes.  He made my other sister’s cake for her baby shower not too long ago and it was super cute.  So she’s using him again.  Here’s a photo of one of his baby cakes and my invitation.  I feel blessed to have my sister putting on such a great shower for me and for everyone that has helped with the preparations too!
